Why Counselling

There are times in our lives when our problems seem too difficult for us to manage.  Talking to friends and family can be very effective, but sometimes they can’t help and that maybe because the issue feels too difficult to talk about.  This is when professional counselling can help.

Counselling offers a non-judgmental, confidential environment for clients to explore problems that are causing distress or preventing positive movement in their lives.

Through active listening, sharing theory and encouragement a counsellor aims to help their client to:-

• Identify and set goals

• Re-connect with their “inner expert”

• Gain greater awareness of their personal patterns & blocks

• Find clarity and new perspectives

• Try out new ways of being in a safe environment

• Discover more effective means of communication

If you are new to counselling you may not be aware that there are many different approaches to therapy and it is worth doing a little research to find the approach that you think may suit you.  The following is a list of a few:-
